Franklin Bike Tour May 18, 2008

It was rather cool when we jumped into the Jeep and headed to Madison this morning. Our goal was to be up there and ready to ride by 9Am. Well, we did not make it due to just being a bit slow this morning, but we did start cranking the peddles at 10Am sharp. We opted to start at the Lake Herman State Park just for ease of parking and the security of having someone there to kind of watch over our boats, which we brought along also. The ride was 31 miles in all and there seemed to both Kay and I to be more hills than we had been lead to believe. Oh well it is all about the exercise. Right? The route took us 6.5 miles south, then back tot he east 7. Then we headed north about 5 or so then we headed back west. This took us around the south side of Lake Madison. It was a rice day for the most part. There was just enough wind to make us work a bit. The road is good, not much traffic , except on the short stretch of Highway 19 and the temp was perfect. After we got done with our ride we had the pleasure of having lunch with Kay's parents at the Dairy Queen in Madison. After lunch well we decided to head back home, mow the lawn and then head out to Lake Alvin for some relaxation on the water.
