Well this was one very unusual morning of bike riding. It was warm, light breeze and the skies were clear. That in itself was unusual. We left our favorite staring point on the Sioux Falls Bike Trail at about 9AM and headed north on the west side. The three of us, Kay , Nancy and myself had opted for a middle of the road pace so we could enjoy the morning. We took turns riding a head then slowing down and someone else would take the lead for a while. It was beautiful out and it was incident free all the way to 41 Street. Kay picked up her first point of the day. It was not until he got to Highway 38 that Kay picked up her second point of the day. Points you might ask. Well I am not going into great detail on here, but when you do something foolish, crash etc you get points. So for the day it was Kay 2, Nancy zero and Ed zero. I was in great shape until I hit the pigeon on the way underside of the bridge along highway 38. It was strange, but we both lived. This maybe should have been a omen. It was pretty smooth sailing to Falls Park where we stopped for a little snack. Back on our way things again were pretty good although the amount of traffic on the path was getting more congested by the minute. Well, I decided to sprint out a head for a bit and when I decided to stop and let them catch up I took a bit of detour so I good come up behind them. Well good idea until I hit the water hole and made a bit of an abrupt stop.....1 point Ed. Not serious just humiliating. By this time we were almost back to our starting point, but where was Nancy? Well seems she decided to make friends with another rider the hard way, face to face, bike to bike. Again both survived without any real serious injury, just a few raspberries. The big news it Nancy picked up a quick ten point and took the lead for the day, not a lead you want by the way. All this behind us we finished our 20 miles , loaded up our bike, laughed a bit and headed home to do some lawn mowing. That proved to be much less exciting.
